WWTechnic, a company that values challenges and green technology, actively supports industry leaders in eco-friendly solutions. As our company has significant experience in the domain, we can help to introduce multiple technologies to the maritime industry. Currently, we are collaborating with startups to introduce their innovative Methane Slip Technology to the maritime sector. This is our way to supporting green maritime technology!

Methane Slip Measurement and Its Importance in Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Methane slip refers to the unburned methane that escapes during the combustion process in engines, particularly those using Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as fuel. This phenomenon significantly contributes to greenhouse gas emissions. Methane is a potent greenhouse gas with a much higher global warming potential than carbon dioxide, and this happens over shorter timeframes. Accurate measurement of methane slip is therefore crucial for quantifying and ultimately mitigating its environmental impact. Especially as the global shipping industry increasingly adopts LNG as a cleaner alternative to traditional fuels.

Our client: Daphne Technology’s SlipPure Marine System
Daphne Technology has developed the SlipPure Marine system, a cutting-edge application designed for the maritime domain to control emissions. This system employs advanced plasma and catalyst technology to minimize methane slip. Technology is addressing a critical challenge as the shipping industry transitions to cleaner fuels like LNG. By reducing unburned methane emissions, the SlipPure Marine system not only assists vessel operators in complying with future regulations set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) but also plays a significant role in lowering the overall carbon footprint of maritime transport.
Daphne technology is developing their solution actively from 2018 (Research & Startup Phase). It developed from research project to the final product in 2023. Daphne is currently leading the industry with methane slip measurements. We are very happy that WWTechnic can support Daphne during the expansion to the maritime market.

WWTechnic’s Contribution to Establishing New Technology – Supporting Green Maritime Technology
WWTechnic supports in facilitation, introduction and implementation of groundbreaking technologies like the SlipPure Marine system. Their expertise in mechanical engineering, automation, and electrical systems allows them to manage the startup and commissioning of these new solutions. This includes ensuring proper integration, optimization, and thorough sea trials to guarantee the systems are fully operational from the outset. By supporting Daphne Technology, WWTechnic contributes significantly to bringing this transformative solution to the maritime industry.
Hands-on Experience with Methane Slip Technology
WWTechnic’s experienced engineers, Antoni and Piotr, have practical experience with methane slip related technologies. They have installed PureMetrics systems, which consist of six measurement loops to analyze exhaust gas emissions, including CH4, CO2, CO, NO2, NO, and SO2. These systems incorporate dedicated IOT modules built with OPC technology and have been implemented on vessels like the Eagle Bintulu and Hellas Athena, covering both analysis and data distribution.
Furthermore, WWTechnic’s engineers have provided services for existing Daphne installations, including upgrades of the SlipPure system to enhance methane reduction in exhaust gas. This work has involved tasks such as opening reactors, upgrading electrical installations, installing vibration reduction systems, and replacing faulty components, alongside verification and calibration of sensors. Their broad experience with various maritime systems enables them to cater to a diverse clientele, from large corporations to startups.

Looking Towards a Sustainable Maritime Future – Supporting Green Maritime Technology
The maritime industry is undergoing rapid transformation driven by decarbonization goals and increasing regulatory demands, such as the IMO’s 2050 carbon reduction targets. In this evolving landscape, advanced emissions reduction systems like Daphne Technology’s SlipPure Marine will be crucial for sustainable shipping operations.
As maritime innovation continues, WWTechnic remains dedicated to providing expert commissioning, startup, and technical services, paving the way for a cleaner and more efficient future. For inquiries about how WWTechnic can assist with commissioning for startups, interested parties are encouraged to contact us.
In January 2025, a dedicated IMO Correspondence Group took a significant step towards standardization of methane slip measurements. 11 April 2025 at IMO MEPC 83 in resolution MEPC.402(83) – Guidelines for test-bed and onboard measurements of methane (CH4) and/or nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from marine diesel engines. These guidelines represent the first essential tool for reliably verifying methane slip measurements. (DNV) We are waiting to establish a final rules and regulations, and support Daphne with further expansion!
